Assistant Coach / Sprinters
Assistant Coach Omar ran sprints (100, 200, 400), the 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays in high school years for St. Jago HS in Jamaica. He was the Jamaican national HS champion in the 400m throughout his HS career. Coach Omar was the first athlete to win the national title in the 400m across all age groups ( 13-14, 15-16, 17-19). He represented his country in the 400( 6th) and 4 x 400 relay (2nd) at World Junior PanAm Championship in Chile. He was also part of winning 4 x 100 and 4 x 400 relays Championship of America High School teams at the Penn Relays while competing for St. Jago HS. In his college years, Coach Omar continued competing in the sprints for the George Mason Track & Field team. During those years, specifically his junior year he was 2nd in the 400 and 4 x 400 relay at his conference championship ( CAA) which helped his team to capture the CAA conference championship.
He has been a House of Speed family member since its inception in 2021 & serving as an Assistant Coach since fall of 2021. His love and passion for track & field runs deep from his days competing as a youngster in his home country of Jamaica. He enjoys motivating youth to reach their fullest potential on and off the track, and to grow their technical skills. He likes to say to the kids “What you put in, is what you will get out”. Coach Omar and his wife Rebecca have one child, Nicholas. Nicholas runs for West Springfield HS and has been a member of House of Speed since it’s inception.
